First, I'd like to thank my girlfriend JoAnn for letting me use her Sony VAIO desktop to capture my more interesting autox runs. I've converted the older files to the QuickTime movie format. The newer files use Windows Media Player. I've found that I can better control the compromise in quality and compressed file size even better. If you're having trouble playing the new *.wmv files, make sure that you have the latest CODECS from Microsoft's site.

It's preferable to save the movie file to your local hard drive, so right mouse click on the file and choose Save As. Then, open it up and you should be good to go.

Download QuickTime

NOTE: If you save each file on your HD and play it on the standalone QuickTime player, find the audio controls and boost the Treble all the way up. Don't raise the Bass more than 1 bar because it will drown out the less noticeable sounds like skidding tires.

MOVIES

SFR SCCA '01 Round 11 (7.17 MB)
I'll always remember this round because I finally got my car's handling sorted out. Plus, this was my first class win in Novice 3 which has a bunch of competitive guys that make it all the more exciting and fun. Pay attention 3/4's of the way through the run--you'll hear me hit a nice pot hole in the middle of a right hand turn. I hit it on every run! Hahaha...

SFR SCCA '01 Round 16 (Co-Driver: Alan Zee) (6.59 MB)
Alan co-drives, again. You can tell that he's more comfortable w/ my car compared to R15. I replaced the front springs the day before, so Alan was my handling guinea pig for the event. =)

SFR SCCA '01 Round 16 (6.24 MB)
I was pushing so hard on this run that my hands were shaking afterwards! Pay attention at the very end to see my car skipping across laterally at the finish gate; you'll see my helmet bobbing around. =) The guys in my Novice 3 group made a great showing that event--we covered the 30th to 36th percentiles in the field on street tires! Yeah, baby, yeah!

SFR SCCA '01 Round 18 (4.39 MB) Course Map (55 KB)
This was the SFR's last event in the regular season. I felt pretty good about this run. I was hitting 7200 rpm at the "straightaway" after the first Chicago box (lane change). In retrospect, though, I could've chopped off another 3 tenths if I squeezed another 5% outta my car--hell, I was able to look down at the tach, so I wasn't going fast enough! =) Plus, the tires only squealed 2-3 times. I thought I had pulled off a clean 41.634 on this run, but apparently, my left front tire was right on the cone at the start line. When I took off, it nudged the cone and dropped the damn thing. Discounting that 2 second penalty, I would've indexed in the low 50s (202 drivers) which drops me to the 25th percentile. Not bad for being on old street tires in a modified class. =)

'91 MR2 Developing Rod Knock in an Autox Event (7.77 MB)
Witness the agonizing death of Randy's white MR2's 5S-FE. Poor thing ran a little low on oil and ate its bearings. Pay attention a little before the halfway mark and you'll hear the rod knock. While you're checking this out, notice the incredible car control that Randy has. He won C Stock at this event, even with an ailing engine. =)

Please note that the following movies will all be in the WMV (Windows Media) format. Make sure that you have the latest Media Player update.

Duel at Anza '02 (7.36 MB)
I only scrubbed in the new Kumhos a 3 days before The Duel. I was hoping that the weather would stay dry, but the forecasts kept looking bad. We were undecided between running early (not as much traction cuz we'd be cleaning off the course) or risk waiting till the mid-afternoon for a cleaner course with a possibility of showers. We got showers. =( I think I was the fastest FSP car in the wet--the top three FSP cars set blistering times in the dry. Next year!

SFR SCCA '02 Round 9 (4.53 MB)
This is my first dry event on the new Kumhos. The added traction was something I needed to get used--my butt-dyno was on over-load from the much higher G forces! The new setup wasn't to my liking, though--almost as much push as before I got the TRD bars. You can see why I call this particular lot "Rally World." That's Alan's voice that you hear in the background.

SOUNDS

Randy's '91 MR2 Attempting Re-Start with Rod Knock (799 KB)
Never heard what rod knock sounds like? You'll wanna download this and experience the horror. Ironically, Randy took C Stock at that event, even when the motor crapped out on him. A consolation prize f/ the race gods? Possibly... Pray that you never have to experience this.
