Autocross Supplies

I've been autox'ing long enough (and learned the hard way!) to know what to bring. Here are my suggestions:

  • Dedicated autox bin to organize and contain all of your autox supplies
  • Your current SCCA membership card
  • Class and car number magnets organized in manila envelopes or similar packages
  • Decent tire pressure gauge (as long as it's consistent, that's all that matters)
  • Five or 7 gallon air tank (only important if you're experimenting with tire pressures)
  • Appropriate tools if you need to swap your street wheels/tires to race rubber
  • Compact floor jack
  • Smaller organizing bin for the lug nuts (in case the street and race lug nuts are different), wheel locks, etc.
  • Optional: decent--but cheap--portable drill with a socket adapter for the lug nuts
  • Mechanix (or equivalent) gloves so you don't get dirty while changing wheels or tech'ing others' cars
  • One or 2 rags
  • Extra quart of oil
  • Appropriate tools for the battery hold-down bracket and terminals (some cars have a tendency to work these fasteners loose)
  • Helmet in its own padded bag
  • Rain poncho or heavy sweater (even if it's raining, you still have to work!)
  • Windbreaker for the gusty locations
  • Sunglasses
  • SPF 30 sun block
  • Comfy folding chair if you plan on staying the entire day
  • Lots o' water
  • Snacks if you can't afford food from the roach coach
  • Pen for filling out the registration card(s)
  • Most importantly, have fun!!!
