George Hong
San Leandro, CA
SFR SCCA: BS 30
A familiar ride at the SFR SCCA events... Nice wheels and stickies (Kumho Victoracers), too! Take note of what a
nice, not rice, Corolla looks like! Check out
George's
results in the SFR Championship Series.
R15 at the Oakland Coliseum.
IMOC had a track day at the Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca on 2/11/02. Here's George in his new
Spyder leading Plato Mok on the front straightaway. He was hitting ~85-90 mph before getting on the
brakes for Turn 2.
Bombin' down the infamous Corkscrew. Alan Zee's hanging on for dear life in the passenger seat. =)
Honestly, the Spyder's stock suspension is pretty nice w/ good characteristics. There's some pronounced
body roll, but you can feel what the car wants to do. Of course, George lifted just a hair coming out of
Turns 2 and 3 which ended up in spins. =)
Peter Thana
Palo Alto, CA
Elbert Chin co-drove with Randy Noll in Peter's sweet '93 MR2 at one event. The engine had some mysterious power loss
which a bunch of us couldn't track down. Solution? Peter got a hold of a relatively low mileage, stock '93 5S-FE engine.
Randy and I helped Peter swap it into his car in one day (scary, no?!). Peter, Randy, and I would like to thank Derek
Butts for the use of his facilities which have a car lift, air tools, and engine crane which always makes our
wrenching life so much easier.
C Stock god, Randy Noll, at the helm.
I seriously dunno where the course goes... Randy's looking straight ahead, but the car's right side is loaded like it's in
a left turn. Must be an "off" day for Randy--he's a good 8" away f/ the apex cone. Hahaha... =)
Although these pics are all of Peter's MR2, he took the SFR SCCA Solo 2 A Stock 1st place trophy in his BMW Z3. As the
results show, Peter can hold his own against stiff competition f/ National-caliber drivers like Andy McKee and Teresa Neidel in
some events. Check out
Peter's kick-ass performance
in the SFR '01 Championship Series.
Here's "The Shoe." =)
