Autocross Pics

This section will showcase various stills taken throughout the Blue Bomber's autox stints. Hopefully, we'll capture some of the fun, friendly competition, and energy that Solo 2 events generate. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, stop by an autox event and make sure you introduce yourself to either of us.

"The hell you lookin' at?!.." Just about finished prepping the Blue Bomber for her runs. You can see Carl's 13" Lensos and Kumho 235/45/13 stickies on Alan's car.

All dressed up and looking pretty. I'm using # 174 as a co-driver while Alan's his regular 74.

Alan's newly-acquired JIC lower control arm brace. Maybe it's just us, but we think the JIC brace cut down the suspension subframe flex up front enough to minimize torque steer.

A roach coach, the Blue Bomber, and my buddy Ben's super clean AE92 GT-S.

Whoooooo, look at those meaty tires! We swapped the tires front-to-back because the front tires got pretty chewed up from all of the wheelspin from the previous event. We backed off the front camber to something much more sane. The car put down the power fairly well at this event, so we'll be sticking to less than -2° negative camber up front from now on.

On grid. Behind the Blue Bomber is Tom Grote's Miata which competes in the highly competitive Street Tire indexed class. Peter Thana co-drove the Miata at this event and pulled some stupid-fast times on friggin' street tires! If only we were half as fast!..

Carl at the start line. Don't worry--that's water vapor coming out of the tailpipe! In the background you can see the SFR's cool timing trailer (RV) that was recently redone by the nice people at Midland Cabinets.

Alan getting a ride while Carl tries to progressively push the car to its limits in a decreasing radius right hander.

Go, Alan, go!!! If that ain't concentration, I don't know what is! We eventually need to get a proper harness installed; not so much for the lack of support, but as an attempt to keep Alan in his friggin' seat! Look how far the poor guy's leaning over! =)

The Blue Bomber post-runs, taking a much-deserved rest at the pit area. The front tires fared much better at this event. We didn't get any severe feathering or complete chunks torn out of the tread blocks (!!!).

Compare the gap between the wheel and fender in this static photo to that of the pics of the sedan in the right handers. Lots of suspension movement...

The muscle behind an innocent looking sedan body. This is probably the best engine bay shot of the Bomber that we have.

"I swear it's a carb'ed 4A-F!.."
"Yeaaaah, riiiight..."
